Dream chasers never face an easy road.
At the beginning a great many ideas centre around notions of passion through possibilities. Truth be told we are all born with a certain level of Courage, purpose and passion to change the status quo. In the spirit of that gradual change, we first need a gradual shift in paradigms before Courage can be your vehicle to pursue your ambitious plans for the future you want. You must ‘believe’ what you are doing is worthwhile before you can muster the Courage to pursue it.
If we ask any successful individual, company, olympian or team about success, you’ll often here many stories and notions of not being good enough and then a sudden ‘raising of standards’ to enable them to be where they are today. That ‘raising of standards’ has Courage at it’s core element – having the Courage to dream its possible.
I’ve always believed each of us has greatness within us. We all have a special ‘gift’ we need to expose to the world. You have the ability to do ‘something’ better than anyone else here and you need to locate what that is and relentlessly pursue it.
As an example; if you have a great singing voice and are able touch hearts with your gift – you owe it to yourself and the world around you to sing your song. There’s someone you’re going to touch on the way who’ll have a shift in perspective or situation through your music. Here’s the clincher though, just because you’re naturally talented at something doesn’t guarantee you the success you believe you deserve.
Life is about determination and persisting to expose your talent or gift above the noise of social and mainstream media to reach an audience of devoted and excited followers. This isn’t optional, you must be committed to raising your standard for WHO you want to be. A quote by the famous Calvin Coolidge says it best;
“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan “Press On” has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race”
A great many of us don’t have a legitimate excuse for not pursuing what we love. Most who mount an argument against not being able to pursue put it down to poor timing. What I say to those people is just begin. I’m not asking you to build a house, just lay a single brick as perfectly as you can…
Considering 2/3 of the world lives on less that $2 a day, you already have an advantage with the resources you have at your fingertips. The trick is, don’t get stuck singing the ‘Thank God it’s Friday’ song. Have the courage to pursue that which is outside the box and quite often outside your social circle. Be who you were born to be. If you need further convincing to locate your Courage and be the best version of you, take a drive down to your local cemetery. Walk amongst the graves and see how short some lives are – it’s a real eye opener. Perhaps also ask yourself some simple questions while you’re there: ‘how many people are lying here with unfinished business? Unused talent ? lives un-lived, Passions unexposed?
I hope this post enables you to locate and have the courage to pursue what you love.
I hope you find that special place inside of you that longs to do ‘that thing’ you’ve always dreamed of…and I hope you find the courage and determination to steer your ship over into those waters.
It’s where you belong…
